Report from India

HAVE president Ron Reid has recently returned from an eight-day trip to India. During the trip, Ron was able to see seven of the most recent 10 wells drilled with donated money. Ron was able to check out wells installed by SUCHI, our NGO located in Andhra Pradesh (near Chittoor) about 200 kilometres west of Chennai (Madras) in India. About half of the wells were operated with electricity, while the others used hand pumps. Grade 5 class’s Walk for Water, 2014. This class held their walk on the school day before the main Walk for Water. This year the class is providing the third well sponsorship; possibly the only school in Canada to have done such a remarkable achievement.

Haliburton MP Barry Devolin shares story of HAVE

Haliburton-Kawartha Lakes-Brock MP Barry Devolin took the time to speak at Help A Village Effort’s fundraiser at Wintergreen Pancake Barn on June 21, 2014 in Gelert, near Minden, Ont. Devolin talked about the beginnings of the organization, which was founded in Haliburton County in 1982.

Donations keep coming in from Vancouver walk

We have an update from David Phillips on the May 31 Walk for Water in Vancouver: About 50 people came out to support Help A Village Effort in providing fresh drinking water to people in India. About $2,500 was raised that morning, with more still coming in. $2,000 translates into a well providing a continuous supply of clean water for 100 families.
