Walk for Water in Glovertown June 15

The appeal below is from Glovertown HAVE members Gerry and Yuvadee

(Beginning from Glovertown Academy on 15 June:  Registration 8 AM)

In March, 2013, we (along with two other HAVE volunteers, David Phillips and Don Symons, from West Vancouver) visited two of HAVE’s Partners (SGUS in West Bengal, and RUCHC in Odisha) who took us into 32 villages, including 5 schools, where HAVE  has supplied bore wells of safe drinking water. Now thousands of villagers, including students, are getting an ample supply of good, potable water, and much improved health, for the first time in their lives. We wish that you, too, could have experienced the appreciative, joyous welcome, with sincere THANKS, expressed to us in those villages and schools. (We have excellent photos for your viewing, if requested)

Regrettably, there are numerous other villages in India depending on water in polluted, seasonal, shallow ponds, dug wells, river beds, etc, which are causing much unnecessary sickness and even deaths, especially among the children and elderly, due to diarrhea and related water-borne diseases. By helping villagers to obtain drilled wells of pure water, they and their families become health, happy, productive members of their village and our global community.

Since 1982 HAVE Canada has provided nearly 1,000 safe drinking water systems to as many villages of which our Glovertown annual walks (beginning 1999) have funded more than 150 artesian wells. We invite you and your family and friends to participate in the HAVE cause of helping the very needy villagers in India, and elsewhere, to help themselves via providing them with safe drinking water.

If you are unable to walk in our 15th Walk for Water on Saturday, June 15, we’ll sincerely appreciate your support via a contribution either through the Branch: HAVE, 140 Main Street N., Glovertown, NL, A0G 2L0, Canada   or directly to HAVE, P.O. Box 553, Minden, ON, K0M 2K0. An official receipt for I.C. Tax purpose will be provided.  Note: (www.helpavillageeffort.org ).

Our Sincerest thanks.

Gerard (Gerry) and Yuvadee. (Ph.#: 1 709 533-9177)
