Update on projects in Nabaranghur District

Well projects are moving forward in Nabaranghur District, in Odisha, India, with funding from donations to Help A Village Effort. Twelve wells in Papadahandi, Boriguama, and Nanahandi Blocks have either been completed or are underway by NGO RUCHC (Rural Community Health Centre). Nishita Daudsena, CEO of RUCHC, says drilling takes eight to nine hours on a good day, or it could take up to two days. Each well provides water to hundreds of people. HAVE has committed about $23,000 to this 12 well project.

About half of the wells were operated with electricity, while the others used hand pumps. Ron informed the board of directors on Oct. 29 that the government in India has agreed to put in tanks, taps and electrical pumps on those… [ read more ]
