Well projects are moving forward in Nabaranghur District, in Odisha, India, with funding from donations to Help A Village Effort. Twelve wells in Papadahandi, Boriguama, and Nanahandi Blocks have either been completed or are underway by NGO RUCHC (Rural Community Health Centre). Nishita Daudsena, CEO of RUCHC, says drilling takes eight to nine hours on a good day, or it could take up to two days. Each well provides water to hundreds of people. HAVE has committed about $23,000 to this 12 well project.

HAVE president Ron Reid has recently returned from an eight-day trip to India. During the trip, Ron was able to see seven of the most recent 10 wells drilled with donated money. Ron was able to check out wells installed by SUCHI, our NGO located in Andhra Pradesh (near Chittoor) about 200 kilometres west of Chennai (Madras) in India. About half of the wells were operated with electricity, while the others used hand pumps.
