The 2011/2012 fiscal year was one of great productivity for Help A Village Effort. As the three-year Canadian International Development Agency project came to an end, the board found savings in the exchange rate and was able to expand its original mandate. At the organization’s annual general meeting on Nov. 28, 2012, HAVE president Ron Reid described to those in attendance how the money was used. Friends of India Association raise $3,000 for HAVE

Newfoundland’s Friends of India Association held their first Walk for Water on Saturday, Sept. 8. The weather was just right for the participants at Quidi Vidi Lake in St. John’s, who raised money for Help A Village Effort. By the end, the group had brought in about $3,000 for the organization. Also in attendance were Gerard, Yuvadee and Geravad from the Glovertown chapter of HAVE. Thank you FOIA for your support!
Students take up the cause

By Glen Winsor Glovertown Academy is located in Glovertown, NL. It has a school population of 355 students enrolled in classes from Kindergarten to grade 12. For the past several years, Glovertown Academy students have participated in the annual Walk for Water. The grade 5 classes, along with their teachers, have been the classes who have taken it upon themselves to lead this event. By Gerard and Yuvadee Feltham The Glovertown and Area’s 14th Walk For Water went successfully. The number of walkers were about the same as last year. Each year we hope for more. The walking condition were just right and the spirit of the walk remains optimistic. As for the fundraising, we have good reason to be very pleased. The actual amount received at the walk event was $6,346.
